I decided to start this blog because it is about time I keep track of all that is happening in our lives... and I know there are a few people out there who are interested in keeping up with us as well.
So here is the short quick update (I hope):
Jeff and I are still both working at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch. We are both enjoying our jobs. Jeff has been promoted to the Equine Specialty. He is enjoying learning more and more about the horses and also about leading people.
We have two awesome dogs... for those of you who didn't know, we put Dakota down last Fall. The Lord gifted me with a wonderful little dog whom I named Keona (for it means gift from the Lord). She is a sweet heart... and her and Call (Jeff's dog) are the best of friends.
(Call is the dog facing the camera... I will get some better pictures soon)
We have three horses at this time. My little Arabian who I have had since I was 16, Libby. A draft horse, Luke and Jeff's quarter horse Cade.
And last we have 4 chickens we recently received: Lucy, Matilda, Edna and Francine.
Our dream has been to own property so that we can start to grow and raise our own food and possibly enough have to sell or give to those who are in need. Over the last couple months we have been looking at houses, searching to see what is on the market and praying about many.
Finally at the end of last year we found one!! 20 acres of land with a manufactured home on it. The owners kept pursing us and finally asked us to put in an offer, even though it was way out of our price range. We were so excited... a house for Christmas?!!? Yet not long after Christmas we found out that they didn't want to go that low and had rejected our offer. Back to the drawing table.
Now two months later we stumbled upon another house. For sale by owner, not on the market I found it on craigslist. It is 8.61 acre with a log house. No other structures are on the land, but it hold HUGE potential. We went and looked at it, we talked to our relator and we prayed... deciding again to put an offer in on the house. The answer came back on February 12th, my birthday... we are buying a house!! :)
Woodford Family Farm is starting to grow. With 8.61 acres we are starting with 2 dogs, 3 horses and 4 chickens... however we are expecting 26 more chicks in the mail the week of March 11th!!
And so our new adventure begins...
Yeah for a new adventure! Love the blog. I need a "follow by email" option so I make sure to keep up. I drove up your road but didn't see the log house. I'll have to go exploring again soon.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to have discovered your blog, Kelsie! I am happy that you found a house on land. I hope I can see it soon. :)
